What is endodontics?
Treatment of the pulp and canals to preserve the natural tooth and eliminate pain/infection.

Does a root canal hurt?
With local anaesthesia it is usually well tolerated; temporary sensitivity (24–72h) may occur.
\n
How long does it take?
Typically 60–90 minutes depending on tooth, anatomy and infection.
\n
Do I need antibiotics?
Rarely; mechanical/chemical canal disinfection is the main therapy. Case by case.

When is retreatment needed?
If symptoms persist/return, if an apical lesion persists, or seal is compromised.
\n
Alternatives?
Apical surgery or extraction + replacement (implant/bridge) when preservation isn’t possible.
\n
Aftercare?
Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until final restoration; take pain relief if needed.
\n
Pregnancy/breastfeeding?
Possible with precautions; please inform us. X‑rays limited and protected.
\n
Allergies/medication?
Tell us (anticoagulants, bisphosphonates…). Care will be adapted.
\n
Sport/work afterwards?
Generally fine; avoid heavy effort the same day if sensitivity present.
